Hi there! We're the Walkers and the owners of Loafin' Around, a home-based cottage bakery out of Montgomery, Alabama. Our dream is to use Loafin' Around to finance our gifting of baked goodies (usually cookies) to the military base and first responders in our local area, as our way of thanking them for all they do for us.
We offer a variety of different types of baked goods: Quick Breads, Yeast Breads and Rolls, Scones, Biscuits and other unusual items. We also produce "forgotten cakes". These are cakes seldom made anymore. And each cake has a unique history attached, too!
We can only ship within the State of Alabama and, per law, we cannot sell to distributors. More on all that later though!
Now, if you're wondering who the "we" is, the "we" is George and LC Walker. George doesn't bake but he's very good at watching those nickels and dimes, keeping records and mopping the floor up after all the baking is done. He also handles deliveries along with our son, Richard.
I'm LC, I'm the baker of the bunch. I've been baking since I can remember. Mom set me on the kitchen stool and had me stirring batter before I was five. I think she did that to keep me busy until I was old enough to go to Kindergarten!
